The innovative New York based Broken Box Mime Theater is holding auditions for new company members and I GOT CALLED BACK!
I have been a fan of Broken Box for years! Here’s a bit about them:
BKBX (Broken Box Mime Theater) is a contemporary physical theater company that tells original stories beyond language barrier. Set to rich lighting and a heart-thumping soundtrack, our narratives range from realistic to metaphorical, heart-wrenching to hilarious, and cinematic to intimate, held together by a dedication to the empowered imagination and the collective artistic voice of our diverse company.
Based in NYC and founded in 2011, BKBX is reimagining the medium for contemporary audiences, redefining mime through the lens of US-American theater.
I cannot say enough about how much I love their work. If you want to check it out for yourself, they have clips and even full shows available on YouTube.
For the auditions, BKBX asked everyone to devise an original mime routine set to music. My piece is titled “Fetching” and the story of a man and his dog finding love in the park. I’ll be performing it September 9th at The Space in Bushwick, if you’d like to come check it out! You can find more information here.
