Alex discovered acting in the fifth grade during a school assembly with The Young Americans.
Hooked, Alex pursued acting through middle school and high school, landing such key roles as Lysander in his eighth grade production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
He continued his study of theater into college, earning his undergraduate degree in Theater & Performance Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
At Berkeley, Alex studied both acting and directing. He was awarded the David and Diana Menn Prize for Outstanding Creative Talent in the Performing Arts, as well as the Sara Huntsman Sturgess Prize for Outstanding Accomplishment in Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies. Alex graduated with honors for his thesis on commedia dell’arte and his original production, The Dentist: a tragic commedia dell’arte in one act, a devised play based on classic scenario by Flaminio Scala.
After graduating, Alex stayed in San Francisco and was a founding member of the theater company THRESHOLD, where he performed and directed. He also improvised as a resident member of The Un-Scripted Theater Company.
Alex left in 2011 to study acting at the Brown University/Trinity Repertory Company MFA Program in Providence, Rhode Island. While taking classes in acting, speech, voice, and movement, Alex also studied directing with Brian Mertes and Joanna Settle and playwriting with Deborah Salem Smith. It was at Brown/Trinity that Alex first began to develop his solo clown show, now titled ‘CHALK,‘ which he is actively touring today.
Alex moved to New York in 2014 and has since been seen in film, commercials, television and theater. For information about Alex’s recent accomplishments visit the News page.
